Teaching Philosophy:
Particularly for drumming, which has a very easy learning curve at first, I think enthusiasm and fun are the keys to keeping someone in lessons for the long haul. After the habit is developed of lesson, practice time, and gaining a repertoire of beats and proper techniques, the more rigorous material can follow. I don't start with rudiment drilling; I incorporate it. I like lots of surprises, variety, and age-appropriate activity that gets the student excited about drums--all the while emphasizing technique and long-term good habits.
